The number of credit card transactions in Canada exceeded the number of debit purchase transactions by 5 million transactions in 2018. Debit card purchase transactions have dominated, by volume, since 1998 – until now. The difference in transaction volumes was only 0.1% in 2018, a miniscule difference, so why is this significant?
